Why is Lary King so famous?

Seriously, people are losing it because he died. All I ever saw him do was interview people and get married eight times. I don't get it.

    Larry King put CNN on the map- 

    Yeah, Ted Turner started CNN.........but it didnt really catch fire,  until he hired Larry King.

    he just happened to be at the right place at the right time. nice guy also. but other than if u mean y they make a big deal out of it. well thats bcs he was a celebrity that had his own talk show? where he interviewed famous ppl and the interviews were good??
