What's the best option for buying an iPhone?

I've saved up about 500$. Is it safe to buy a used iPhone with that money? Also, is it true that I can get a 300$ discount for switching from Android to iPhone? What is my best option, buying used or buying new with a discount? I don't know how to buy phones.

Don't bother with an Iphone. You get much better value for money with something like a Samsung. Batteries are rubbish and the screens are glued in so when your battery goes (like mine only lasts a day) you are pretty screwed.

Looked at an old Samsung and its camera was WAY better than my Iphone...

I'm sorry I got one after having Androids for so long

If this is your first phone, buy new. I would not buy my first iPhone for $500 as a used phone, not even a refurbished phone from Apple, which would come with a 30 or 90 day warranty. This coming from a person who received two brand new iPhones, from being part of a couple of different clinical trials, testing medical hardware.
