Follow simple steps to melt chocolate chips in oven.Place the chopped chocolate in a shallow oven-proof bowl in a cool 200°F – 225°F oven. Heat and stir the chocolate often with a rubber spatula until the chocolate is almost melted. Remove the bowl from the oven when there are only a few lumps left in the chocolate and stir until completely melted.

You can either use the double-boiler method or the microwave method. Double-boiler is a special contraption that can be used. Essentially, it is a pan made of two parts: a saucepan that holds the water and another bowl that goes on top of it.

A 'double boiler' would be the best way to melt the chips imo.Use a saucepan with some water, and a bowl that fits over the top of the pan (don't let the water touch the bottom of the bowl).Put the chips in the bowl, and melt them on low (stirring occasionally). My opinion is that the oven will dry out the chocolate.

I'd probably use the microwave in a bowl, but keep an eye on it so it does not burn.

I would'nt do it in the oven.

If you are melting them ON something that you have baked then sprinkle the chips on the item right from the oven. Turn the oven off then place the baked item back in the oven for a minute or two.  Then try spreading the chips. If they still are not soft enough put the pan back in the oven. Check after another minute.

If you just want to melt chips.  The oven is not the best place but if that is the only place you have then....

Place the chips in a heat proof bowl.

Turn your oven on to the lowest setting.

Place the chips in the oven and let them warm up.  Try stirring after a few minutes. If they are soft stir until smooth.  If they are not soft leave them for a few more minutes.

The easiest way would be to place your chips in a heat proof bowl.

Bring a pan of water to a bare simmer. Turn the heat off.

Place a folded cloth in the pan and set your bowl of chips on the cloth and let it sit there for a few minutes until the chips begin to soften and melt. If you need more heat turn the heat on again for a moment. Keep the heat rather low. Do not let it come to a simmer. This may take longer but I have not had any seized chocolate doing it this way. I keep the water around 99 degrees F.

You can either use the double-boiler method or the microwave method. Double-boiler is a special contraption that can be used. Essentially, it is a pan made of two parts: a saucepan that holds the water and another bowl that goes on top of it. Before putting chocolate through any melting process, you need to cut into small bits for efficient working. When you are done with cutting, it is time to fill the bottom part of the double-boiler with around 1 inch of water. While doing it, make sure that the water in the pan must not touch the chocolate in the bowl, even when it is heated through a flame to melt the white chocolate.

The microwave method: after you are done with cutting or grating of chocolate and putting it in your bowl, set the microwave knob at 50% heat to avoid burning and scorching. Then, place the bowl in the microwave and keep it there for 30 seconds. When the designated time is over, take the bowl out and stir. Stirring at set periodicals is necessary because the chocolate retains its position even when it is melted. So, keep on stirring.

Metal/Steel bowl does best. You might want to grate the chips a little to make the work easier and make the probabilities of it burning less.

Chocolate chips are best melted in a bowl over a pan of simmering water

    or in a microwave oven.

In a conventional oven you would need to stand your heatproof bowl in roasting tray of water.

Put them in a heatproof dish, and put them in the oven (low temperature) for a few minutes. Keep an eye on them

1.) Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl.

2.) Put the bowl of chocolate chips into the microwave and nuke them for 30 seconds on high power.

3.) Remove the bowl from the microwave and stir the chocolate.

4.) Place the bowl back into the microwave and nuke it for another 30 seconds on high power.
