Is there a way I can get my laptop to read text out loud?

For example, can I get it to read something directly off a website (such as an article or instructions my professor posted in an email)? I know that I can look up a text to speech converter, I do not want to use that because it takes so much time copying and pasting the writing into those especially because I have to reformat it them. I heard something about google extensions which I looked up but i dont know where to go from there.
