What is considered Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits’ signature song?

I always thought Walk of Life, but is it Sultans Of Swing? Money For Nothing?

Money For Nothing was their biggest hit by far.  The video was a smash, and nobody else has done that signature guitar riff.

Money for nothing but their best album was Love Over Gold.

It has to be Money For Nothing. That defines them and their mark on the 80s. True fans of theirs appreciate their other hits, but to the average 80s music fan, ask them what song they sang and it will come up Money For Nothing at least 9/10.

Sultans of Swing for me as well, though they have plenty of other great songs.  Some of my favourites are Telegraph Road, Industrial Disease, Twisting By The Pool, Water of Love, The Bug, Down To The Waterline, The Man’s Too Strong.
