New Testament or Old Testament first?

So I am new to the Bible and I want to know if I can start with the New Testament before going to the Old Testament? I've been educating myself with these YouTube videos but I would like some feedback.

    In my opinion

it's best to read the Old Testament first

because much of what goes on in the New Testament

has a direct foundation in the Old Testament.

    In other words:

    having read the Old Testament

you will understand the New Testament much better.

I would start with the new testament. a gospel after this maybe Genesis the old testament, Revelation, and then a second book of the new testament.

Also I would look for an overview. Chuck Missler the bible in 24 hours is a great overview. . .

A new Christian should start with the Old Testament, only because it gives you insight to understand God's purpose for his children.

Have you ever started a book halfway through and then skipped around? Of course not, it would make no sense.

Start with Gen 1:1 and read straight through to Rev 22:21.

    The Bible reads as follows:

    Paradise>paradise lost>paradise regained

Yes, a new Christian should definitely start with the New Testament, which describes the life, works and teachings of Jesus Christ, and the history of His Church. In other words, it describes what we need to know in order to be Christian.

Mix it up, a little from the OT and a little from the NT every day.  Find a good reading plan so that you follow a theme in reading.

2 Tim 3:16,17 All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17  so that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.

Read Mark first. If you don’t get who Jesus is you won’t get the rest...

Cults spend a lot of money on ways to attract new recruits, and Youtube is but one way they do this.

Try reading the Bible. See what it says. The old ended, the New began, and the New is not like the old (Jer.31). If you don't get the basics down first, you are ripe pickings for cults and deceptions.

And don't think you are "too smart to fall for deceptions." That is just your ego speaking. It is easy to deceive people, and that mindset makes it all the easier.

Yes, that's a good approach.  Many things in the Old Testament have been replaced.

Start with Revelations and work your way backwards. It makes more sense to know the last part before you get an understanding about how you got there.

It's the same way you should watch a movie.
