Is it okay to switch the actual keys on the keyboard around? ?

I went for typing lessons and was taught in a certain way, the old keys boards were as what I had learned.  The new pc however has a few keys in different spots and this confuses me, or rather slows my typing.

Then you will confuse yourself and not be able to type correctly.

Is it ok to put forks where the spoons go

I leave my keyboard how it come. I don't want to configurate anything because it might malfunction.
