A diabetic can eat anything they want to. BUT, they need to consider what they are eating and balance out the amount and types of carbohydrates that they are eating.
Some things to consider:1. How many carbs does this item have per serving (a diabetic should be concerned about the total number of carbohydrates they are eating because all carbohydrates become sugar in the blood.)2. Is this a "fast carb" or a "slow carb" (a fast carb causes a quick, high sugar spike and a slow carb digests slower and doesn't cause those high spikes - a diabetic should try to plan the majority of their foods from things that are "slow carbs")3. Does this have added sugars or just natural sugars. (added sugars are almost always "fast carbs", so avoiding added sugars is always a good idea.)Once a diabetic starts considering those things when they plan the foods they eat, they can balance a diet that allows them to have almost anything they want without overdoing it on their sugar levels. They will always need to watch serving sizes - but no food is truly "off limits".Brown rice is better than white rice for a diabetic. Whole grains and brown rice are better for a diabetic than white grains and white rice. White grains are "fast carbs" and brown grains are "slow carbs".
So, learn how to count carbohydrates. Learn the difference between "fast carbs" and "slow carbs". Talk to your doctor or a dietitian about how many carbs you should be eating per meal and per day. Once you understand your goals for a daily carbohydrate allowance, you can balance what you want with what you need to do to maintain your sugar levels. For example, my diabetic husband will skip eating any bread or pasta items if he knows he will want a piece of cake as a treat that day. He will fill up on meats and very low carb vegetables when he wants to "cheat" and have a sugary treat.

-- Brown rice is healthier than ordinary white rice. It contain more vitamins and minerals and can reduce the amount of sugar in the blood. The only bad thing about brown rice is that the bran part contains arsenic which builds up in the body.
-- Eating brown rice regularly, but alternated with white rice, is a better option when making meals,.
