Would I be a better Christian if I self flagellate myself more?
It is a common practice among some Christian zealots to make themselves suffer as a penance to Christ's sufferings.
The Irish have a man known as "blessed Matt Talbot" who wore a hair shirt or something similarly nasty to make him suffer, I've seen older people climb the holy mountain there called Croagh Patrick ON THEIR KNEES and there are communities of monks who belie e scourging themselves makes them understand Christ's sufferings more.
Does this make you a better Christian?
I need to know.
My faith is failing at times.
I no longer know what to believe.
Muslims seem perfectly contented in their faith.
How is that?
Why am I having doubts.?
I have since spoken to a monk about this and he has questioned me as to why I feel like this.
I am more confused now than ever.

Well, do YOU think you would be?
If so, why?
Has anyone else said to you that they think beating the daylights out of yourself is a good way to get to heaven?
I cannot believe that any rational person would tell you to do this!
If so, why aren't they doing it?
Contrary to what you say above, it is NOT a "common " practice.
It is something that a certain very small minority of Christians practice and it is not recommended by any church.
The "proof is in the pudding"!
Try it if you must.
But ask yourself afterwards whether you think GOD has heard you more than before.
Answer?
NO!

Hey man, you sure are one screwed up fella!
Where did you get all this nonsense stuff?
Someone out there is pulling your wire!
You just go to your church whenever you feel low man, that is where you will find your God.
Not in this way you are talking about!

You are an example of everything that is wrong with Catholicism!
It not only encourages such lunacy, it then VENERATES it!
That is the reason I left it and its twisted ideology far behind for the truth that is JEHOVAH!
You need to talk with REAL christians, not this weird, perverted lot you are with now.
Come, join us, we can help you truly find God.

Why not give it a go then?
Clearly, you are another of these Christian idiots who cannot be helped and who are no less insane as those Muslim maniacs of ISIS and their kind.
This is the sort of stuff they advocate!
It is another form of martyrdom!
You could flog yourself to death over the actions of a 2000 year dead jew, or, you could go out, have a few drinks, find yourself a girl and have a good time!
Things will look a lot better in the morning, I promise you!
And, if they dont, why, you can always flog yourself tomorrow!

Yeh' man, go to it, beat the crap out of yourself and see where it gets you!
In a six foot box, years earlier than you were supposed to get there!
Crap, dumb, stupid f*#king idea if I ever heard one!
Go see a shrink and get your head sorted out boy!
That monk guy you spoke to should have put you straight on this.
It ain't necessary to beat yourself halfway to death just to prove you are a believer!

Well, when I was "working" the streets, many of my clients had some pretty weird ideas and none of them were good Christian's, including the Pentacostolist minister I saw every Friday night.
I dont think flogging yourself is going to have the desired effect but, hey, if it "rocks your boat" boy, rock on!
Personally, if you want a really qualified opinion on this idea of yours, I think you should write to the Pope.
It is his organisation that promotes this crap!

Take a look at this.
Colossians 2:20-23
20 If you have died with Christ to the [j]elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were still living in the world, do you submit to rules and regulations, such as, 21 “Do not handle [this], do not taste [that], do not [even] touch!”? 22 (these things all perish with use)—in accordance with the commandments and teachings of men. 23 These practices indeed have the appearance [that popularly passes as that] of wisdom in self-made religion and mock humility and severe treatment of the body (asceticism), but are of no value against sinful indulgence [because they do not honor God].
