Selfishness. Everybody wants the world fixed, but they want other people to do it. Poor people consume less, they are doing more than the wealthy who fling their wine bottles in the recycling bin and think they are saving the world, but very few want a poor lifestyle. I know people who scream about ecological matters, yet have a whole tribe of kids who will go on to consume and produce more tribes. The trivial effort is often seen as offsetting the desired lifestyle they (and I) wish to lead.

nobody has all the answers

They are. People like NCWJ are the ones working very hard to make sure the world never gets better. I don't know why he or she would want things to continue as they are. Must be scared of their own shadow, pissing down their leg scared of their own shadow. 

Lots of people are doing what they can to make the world better.
