Who do I contact after being assulted at work?
A colleague of mine was assulted by the manager of a family owned business, they have no HR and the owner has done nothing about it, who can we tell to do something about it?
It was a minor assault by way of the manager running at him and pushing him into a wall, maybe too minor for police, the victim is an employee and it's not the first time the manager has pushed someone over from being in a bad mood

Police oh you defunded them
I might remind you you are a victim and the democrats protect the criminal not the victims.

Since it's a small family owned business....................there is no one to complain to. It sounds like your colleague needs to find another job and stay away from small family owned businesses.

Call the police and make a report. Being "assaulted" isn't really an HR matter so much as a criminal one.

Wanna go all-in, ya get a Personal Injury lawyer. He or she will tell you what it's worth.
First thang the lawyer is gonna say is to report it to the police. I mean, that's just a doh.
Be prepared to tell the truth to the lawyer; otherwise, it's a waste of both of yours time.

If you witnessed the assault, call the police and report the crime. If you didn't witness it contact those who did and pass on the instructions. FYI a minor assault is still an assault.

Assaulted? can be reported to the cops, won't help the employment situation.
City/states have employment/labor laws, dept. That one can go to for this sort of thing. Again, won't really help the employment situation but if it is not addressed, t will continue. Maybe not to that person, but others. Someone needs to stand up and start the ball rolling.

Your question implies that your colleague does not work for the 'family owned business'. If that is the case then it does not matter if they have no HR department. You report assault to the POLICE.
Go directly to the station and file a report.
If your colleague DOES work there then you report them to the employee-employer relations board in the city you are in. If you do not have one...you file a police report.
