Are you thankful for anxiety?

I struggle with a situation I love basketball but I was feeling extreme guilt and told my basketball friends what I did and because of that they mock me and worse know what I did I no longer goo to the gym because of it. Now question is do you think my anxiety was a good natural defence mechanism?

No one is thankful for anxiety.  Anxiety is horrible, it’s extremely debilitating and I wish I didn’t have it.

Your anxiety is a natural result of actions you know are unacceptable.

It is not a defense mechanism, its your mind's way of telling you not to do it again.

Absolutely.   As I am for all of my instincts,  but I never live on instinct alone; that's how anxiety disorders develop.

Yes I am sometimes because it makes me extra cautious and able to circumvent a lot of potentially harmful situations.
