I was born across the Delaware in Camden, NJ.
I also lived in Philly for a couple of years. I moved out of Jersey in 1987.
I wouldn't move back to the East coast even if they offered me everything for free and I didn't have to pay taxes on anything.

What is your question?
I spend a good part of every year in and around Philly and I've never experienced any issues. These kinds of things can and do happen anywhere.

Are you implying that Philadelphia and the Northeast in general is the only part of the country where shootings take place? You must be joking. Of the Top 25 most dangerous major cities in the United States, only one is located in the Northeast - Buffalo, NY. The wide majority of them are located in the Midwest and the South, statistically the most dangerous regions in the country, though the Southwest is catching up fast. In terms of crime per capita, Philadelphia doesn't even crack the top 100 and places like Camden and Trenton, and even other cities in PA like Scranton and Harrisburg, rank higher. If you don't want to come back here - don't. Nobody gives a toss either way. And the Northeast is statistically one of the safest regions of the country. Sure there are problems, but there are problems everywhere. I could compile a list of recent shootings from Alaska to Montana to Florida, what does that prove?
