Natives are considered more at risk than some other groups. You could ask the same question about other groups who have been given priority, but you didn't. The only way for things to be exactly equal would be to give everyone the vaccine at the same time. Since it is impossible for the vaccine, like the gifts Santa Claus brings, to be distributed at exactly the same time to everyone, some choices have to be made.

Oddly enough you haven't come up with a similar question when it is equal rights to access to doctors, hospitals, ambulances, fire fighters, medical equipment, nurses, dentists, drinking water......and appropriate to ask anytime over the last 150 years or so.

Many natives live in remote communities, with poor access to medical facilities.  If Covid gets into a place, it can be devastating - see what happened in Arviat.

I live near Dawson City, Yukon.  We do have a hospital here with 5 beds, only 1 of which can be isolated.  So, we have access to the vaccine early (I get my 2nd shot next week) because of the isolation.  Race, and age do not matter; it is because we are remote.  The native communities are also remote; their villages simply happen to be majority native.  Native communities down south are not in the front of the line, because the are not isolated.

People here in Michigan have to "qualify" too.
