Indoor gross motor skills activities that incorporate functional play or expressive language? ?
Any ideas? For a 2-year-old
I'll take ideas that just facilitate functional play or work on expressive language. I would prefer it to be a gross motor activity, but it doesn't need to be.
I would just like to point out that I am a student and STILL LEARNING. :)

I sure hope this isn't your job. This is a simple question any paraprofessional if the field would know.

an issue is using items not designed as toys, you have to be careful what you choose. i once had huge sponges, and a toddler that like to build with them....but she didn't put things in her mouth. that wouldn't be safe for a child that was prone to mouthing.

you can incorporate language into most gross motor activities. for example, push a car, say beep beep

If this is at home, let the child use pots and spoons to "play" the drums. Uses boxes as cars, blocks to build with, trains, etc. Build a tent with a sheet over a couple of chairs. Play hide and seek. Act out animals. Hide something and give clues- then let the child hide something and give clues.
