Banking Fees in the 1930's?
Hello. Looked high and low for this information and have contacted historians at banks, clearing houses, lots of different places so I'm not interested in where I can look for the answer, just the answer if you know it. The question is this:
The year is 1934 and I'm making a foreign transfer (in this case UK pound sterling) to a bank account in the USA via a currency check. The amount is £15,000. How much would likely be deducted as a fee, would it be a flat fee, or a percentage, or both and what kind of figures?

The Bank of England will know. It's one of the oldest banks in the world.
Phone them or email.
