can you die from too much sadness?

ive always wondered this, can too much sadness cause harm to your body that could eventually lead to death? and im not talking about self inflicted harm or anything, i mean actual health issues that arise directly just from being too sad

Depression is an extremely serious mental health condition that can become deadly if it isn't treated. In many people, untreated depression can lead to suicidal thoughts or attempts.

You can die of a broken heart, but it's also extremely unlikely. It's called broken heart syndrome and it can happen when an extremely emotional or traumatic event triggers a surge of stress hormones. These hormones can put you in short-term heart failure, which can be life-threatening.

Severe stress and depression increase risk of early death. People with high levels of both stress and depression are more likely to die or have a heart attack. For people who already have heart problems, the combination of stress and severe depression creates a psychosocial perfect storm.

People can die from giving up. The condition occurs when someone experiences trauma they feel they cannot escape. Feeling defeated and giving up on life can lead to death.

Psychogenic death is real, it isn't suicide, it isn't linked to depression, but the act of giving up on life and dying usually within days, is a very real condition often linked to severe trauma.
