How many hot dogs is too many to eat before mouth surgery?
I’m getting oral surgery this afternoon and I have these 4 hot dogs in my fridge. I won’t be able to eat solid foods for a while but I don’t want the dogs to go bad and have to throw them away. Is eating 4 hot dogs before mouth surgery a bad idea???
Edit: I think it’s just local anasthetic
Edit 2: Though I was widely discouraged from doing it, I did eat the four hot dogs roughly 2 hours before my mouth surgery. It was just a local anesthetic so there was no problem there, and I threw up zero times, and the only time I got a little close was when the oral surgeon hit my teeth with the hammer. I am not a doctor, but if you are asking if you can eat hot dogs a bit before mouth surgery, in at least my one case, it was totally fine

Hot dogs are gross. Just have some fruit and vegetables

Whatever works for you - the word that confuses you is anesthetic, not anasthetic.

If you are going under anesthesia, you shouldn't eat anything before the surgery. If you threw up while under anesthesia it could be very dangerous for you. If you are only getting shots in your mouth to numb it, you would probably be okay eating the hotdogs. It takes more than a day for the hotdogs to spoil. Using common sense & logic, should you be eating the hot dogs before the surgery?

I would refrain from eating before mouth surgery and the reason for this is sometimes the anesthetic will make you nauseous and have to vomit. You're going to be very uncomfortable if you get nauseous with four hot dogs in your stomach and have to vomit while they're doing mouth surgery.

Call up the dentist or oral surgeon and ASK. It DEPENDS on the type of anesthetic as to WHETHER you should have ANY food on your stomach at all. If there is any chance of NAUSEA (afterwards) eat something else (like a few dry crackers) or skip the meal, per your Dr.'s advice. throwing AWAY a couple of hot dogs is not worth going thru THROWING THEM BACK UP and then having to clean up the MESS.

vey bad.
in fact if you have a full stomach it will be too dangerous for general anesthetic and they will send you home.
if it's just a local anesthetic you may get away with it.
but it is still a bad idea.

If you get nauseous after anesthesia those dogs might come back to haunt you.
