How much does it cost to move to Belgium?

I live in Canada, but I want to move to Belgium, where one of my friends lives. She's alright with me living there, but how much would it cost to ship my furniture, like my bed and such, to Belgium? I can't seem to find this info on google. I understand that it'd probably take a few months to actually arrive and I'm fine with that, so what would the average price of that be?

Update:

AFTER the pandemic is over, of course!

Moving your furniture across the world is not very efficient. Basic used furniture can be bought when you arrive... moving furniture from Canada to Europe would probably cost upwards of $20,000.  To move furniture across the US by truck can cost about $10,000. Thats why we have IKEA!

find a company that will transfer you their Belgian office and they will cover the expenses.

Ask a friend to take you and it won't cost you a penny.

It would be less expensive to buy a bed when you're there, shipping furniture overseas is very expensive.

  • More than you can afford, Besides, Belgium is the second most densely populated country in Europe. Why would you want to increase its density?

Move to Greenland - plenty of space there.

No one here can tell you how much it will cost to ship anything without knowing such things as exactly what stuff and exactly where from and where to. Canada...for example...it will be cheaper if you're shipping from Toronto rather than, say, Dawson Creek. The people who can tell you the cost and how long it takes are the ones at moving companies which can do international moves. It won't be cheap. And then you'll have to ship it back, eventually. Unless you have some really nice furniture and a lot of it, it's probably cheaper to buy some there.

However, you can't just move to Belgium because you want to. You can visit for a certain amount of time, 90 days, without a visa. In normal times, that is. Right now you can't go there at all. If you want to stay longer, or work there, you have to apply for a visa. You might get a visa for a longer stay as a visitor, maybe another 90 days, and if you're a student at an accredited school you could get a longer visa, but your chances of getting a work visa are not good at all.

Have you looked up Belgium immigration?

Why do you think it's legal to move there?

It would be cheaper to buy furniture once you get there.

You need to look into visas from Canada to Belgium.  What their immigration laws are.

Why don't you sell your furniture, save the shipping costs, and buy new in Belgium? That would seem more sensible to me.
