But you should also BE AWARE that the histories of the families of your black boy AND GIRL classmates are different from yours because the history of black people in the United States (assuming that's where you live) is different from the histories of all other peoples living there. And that means the way they grew up and the things they face when they're not in school might not be exactly the same as they are for you...not because of anything about them personally - but just because they're black. If you want to know more about that - go ask the school librarian.
You don't need to do anything to help them. But it'll help YOU make sense of things, if you keep those facts in mind.
