Got pulled over for passing red light ?
So I live in Phoenix Arizona and today I got pulled over for passing a red light. I’m 17 and have a class g license. I wasn’t speeding or anything it was just passing the light. He said something about traffic school and a fine. Idc about traffic school but how much will the fine be?

Passing a red light, is a good way to get T-Boned.
It's an extremely stupid and dangerous thing to do, to save 10 seconds out of your day.
Pay the fine and be more attentive and considerate of other drivers, in the future.

I'd be more worried about how much traffic school tuition is these days...

The Police cannot/do not give binding legal advice. That includes the outcome of ANY Court proceeding. A Judge can fine you any amount he chooses. You ARE aware that passing a red light is a violation, right, and you don't need to also be speeding ...

When I did that in Delaware ten years ago, I was fined $120. No excuse except that I was very tired and didn't even see the traffic light, let alone what color it was.
You should probably count on it being 50-75% more than that now.

Look on the back of your ticket. You ought to know that it's ILLEGAL to pass through a red light. STOP & wait until it is green!!!!!!!!!!!!!

likely a couple of hundred. fines and court costs [you get to pay those, too] have ballooned in the past two decades

The fine is $250 plus court costs and 2 points assessed to your driving record. Taking traffic school eliminates the points. The website is unclear if the conviction stays on your record, but I'm guessing it does. There should be a number on the ticket, you can call the courthouse and ask.

The situation is different in every state. But if you look at the ticket there are websites you can pull up, phone numbers you can call, etc.
Traffic school won't relieve the fine but the ticket doesn't go on your record so your insurance won't go up. If you're 17, I'm betting your insurance is already pretty high, so that might not be a bad idea.
You have the option of just paying the fine, and I'm surprised it's not right on the ticket. If you like, you could appear before a judge, plead guilty, and ask him if he couldn't reduce the fine. They'll do this sometimes if your previous record is clean.
