Why does everyone want to be lighter not heavier? Being 170 isn't automatically better than being 215?

That just isn't true. Lots of people try to gain weight. Look at the huge industry of protein powders and supplements. People sometimes go to great lengths to gain lean muscle mass.

    Hi John,

I think this is a great question. For the most part, people tend to become overweight in today's environment. Overweight comes with many byproducts, our heart will have to work a little bit harder to get blood to a larger body, our joints will have to carry more weight. People tend to want to become healthier, so I can see why lighter would be a trend.

You are absolutely right, being 170 is not automatically better than being 215. Not if the person is really tall, or have a lot of muscles. Agreed!

There is NOTHING that "everyone" wants. What many people strive for is to be a HEALTHY. And whether 170 or 215 is a healthy weight or not for anyone, depends on their age, sex, height, and body frame size.

    .

Speaking as a 5'6" female, I'd MUCH rather weigh 170 lbs than 215 lbs. The lower weight WOULD be "automatically better" for me (although both are quite a bit over the recommended for my height/sex).

.I use to be 170, a long time ago. I remember what that was like. I felt way better then. Now I'm 250, and am 5' 9. As I started getting heavier my knees became artheritic eventually both replaced in 2013 - 2014. I have 'had blood pressure problems for years. I take med's but the weight makes it hard to breathe and do excessive action with my heart pounding. That's high blood pressure on its way to a heart attack. And theres more but I don't think you want to hear more. People who are heavier and like it than they also like all the conditions that go with it. Just personal care can be tiring. I don't believe a larger size women like myself, if being honest can not say that they love being this big. Its hard to move around. Its hard to reach your shoes. Its hard to find cute cloths at reasonable prices. Heavier means Harder, simple. I haven't even spoke about the worse part the emotional strain. This is a new paragraph for another time.

If your not a PRO athlete or a bodybuilder. And they can only for so long, they know the damages to the body that extraweight carries.

If you are not than that more than likely means your not just fat but obese. Being 215 and all fat is like wearing a restraining jacket when trying to move and do anything productive or fun. Plus it can not be fun trying to find clothing that fits and is affordable. Let alone comfort.

It a much easier life to be fat, lazy and nasty. It takes alot to refrain or control that diet and stay healthy. All your doing is making excuses to not be healthy.

Because being lighter is so much easier. There's like no benefit from being heavy
