Do you think Olympics Tokyo should be held this year? Do you think most athletes will join it?

Although most in Japan oppose holding Olympics in 2021, Olympic organizers and Japanese officials have insisted it can be held even if the pandemic is not under control by the new opening date of July 23, 2021.

No, I don't think that the world will be ready for foreign travel this summer.

I'm a fan of many sports, including many Olympic sports.  I've eagerly watched every Olympics, both summer and winter, since I was a child (I'm 57 now).  The thing is that I'm now officially ambivalent.  The Olympics is no longer a sporting event it's a marketing event for big corporations and big pharma.  They should be giving out medals to drug companies not "athletes".  My change in attitude towards the Olympics is not really about the pandemic but rather about the fact that the Olympics have become completely corrupt and all about cash and power politics.  There has always been some of that but now that's all it is about.  Add in a worldwide pandemic and it seems a pretty foolish idea to me.  If I were an athlete I wouldn't go.  But then again it isn't about the athletes it's about corporate branding and nationalistic politics.  And that won't stop for anything.
