Why does the Republican Party only care about rising costs and deficits when a Democratic president is in power?

And only care about helping their rich buddies instead of helping average everyday Americans. But when Donald Trump was president they didn't care about the deficit he run up to more than 3.4 trillion?

The Republican party is ideologically committed to tax cuts, particularly for the rich.  And tax cuts are politically easy to pass.  Who wouldn't want to pay less in taxes?  They're also, theoretically, ideologically committed to cutting government spending.  But that's more difficult to do, politically.  This is one of the dirty little lies of conservative politics.  Republicans often act like most government spending consists of unpopular things: welfare for lazy people, money spent on illegal immigrants, foreign aid to ungrateful countries, fat cat salaries for government bureaucrats.  But the reality is that most federal spending consists of just three programs: Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, and the military.  And those are all really popular.  Peoplt throw fits when you try to change Social Security or Medicare, and they hate it when anyone proposes less military spending.  In fact, if we eliminated all spending aside from those three things, we'd just barely close the government deficit.  What this means is that Republicans can't meaningfully offset their desired, and politically popular, tax cuts with spending cuts.  To do so would require them to cut programs which people love, which would be politically difficult.  So when they come into power they cut taxes but not spending.  The result is more debt.  When a Democrat is in power it's much easier for the GOP to be deficit scolds because that aligns with their political interests.  By criticizing the Dems they can help themselves.

For the exact same reason Democrats only care when it's a Republican President.

I think they learned that behavior from the Democrats. Democrats only care about rising costs and deficits when a Republican president is in power. And only care about helping their rich buddies (Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, Apple, etc. etc.) instead of helping average everyday Americans. Obama (and Biden) wanted electricity prices to "skyrocket" when he was in office: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlTxGHn4sH4

Obama's high energy prices, which hurt the average everyday Americans:

Reps save the painful budget cuts for the dem president. Rep presidents curry favor by giving tax dollars used to pay the bills away then scream, look how they raise taxes when the dem president reduces the deficit. Biden needs to add attacking trump's irresponsible tax giveaway on his list of things to do. Trump added $7T in debt.

President Trump sent our economy to historic highs. AntiPOTUS Biden and the Democrats seem content to crash it with spending.

Don't expect Republicans or Democrats to restrain spending

    1. Neither have a record of doing so

    2. Most of the government is on auto pilot with automatic increases

    3. Their constituencies don't want them to stop spending

    4. The poor want their handout

    5. The wealthy financial and political elitists want the spending because thats the pie they live off of, so they want it to grow grow grow too

The middle class pays the bill.  The future middle class pays the bill (if there is one)
