Should people answers questions?

My brother moved away and never contacted his family for 20 years. He started visiting on holidays 5 years ago. When I ask him basic questions like about his business or how long he has lived at his apartment he will act like he didn't hear me and not answers it. Is my brother trying to hide part of his life by not letting me connect with him not answering basic questions?

People aren't required to answer personal questions, it's up to them. You could always ask him why he doesn't answer your questions (if he's choosing to keep his business private). After all, it's not like he's close with the family (or he wouldn't have been out of touch for 2 decades).

Your question belongs in Family & Relationships>Family as it's currently in Yahoo Products>Yahoo Answers and not applicable to this subcategory, which is for questions about how YA works and the rules here (and thus decreases your chances of getting many useful answers).

Moving your question can be done by clicking Edit (pencil icon for mobile)>Edit category just beneath your question, then selecting the category that's appropriate for the topic.

He  might have been in JAIL for some length of time.

I had a brother who was in the Navy,  but he was kicked out......but the thing was, he never came home.  He just vanished for 3 years........no where to go, no apartment..........made no contact with anyone........and then just magically re-appeared after 3 years.

He never admitted it, and I can't prove it,  but my guess is he was sitting in some Brig for 3 years. ---related to why he got kicked out.
