Warm washing (40 degrees)
Washing in warm water and using
a correct combination of specialized chemicals will result
in chemical disinfection at the same level of effectiveness as thermal disinfection.
The benefit of warm washing is that it requires shorter wash cycles than a hot wash, as little to no heating is required. There is also no need to maintain or service an engineering solution such as an ozone unit. Both of these factors mean that the costs of running your laundry may be less if washing in warm water as opposed to hot.

washers allow different water temperatures. This instruction says that you ought to use warm water, not hot water. Hot water can be a problem for many materials. Warm water can be a problem for some fabrics, so they would recommend cold machine wash for such materials.
I take it you have never done your own laundry? One of the first things you learn is how to set wash and rinse water temperatures (cold/cold, hot/cold, warm-/warm, and so on). The other is agitator speed (gentle-delicate, normal, or heavy duty). Higher-level concerns are one or two rinse cycles, time of primary wash cycle, and so on. It is really pretty simple stuff, but you do have to learn just the same. If you get it wrong, you can ruin one of your favorite items of clothing (it is always one of your favorites and never something you are about to throw away which suffers for your mistake).
