Can I close Chrome while something's downloading?

If I have the unfinished download and I close the browser, will it continue downloading when I open it again?

No, but if you use a download manager you can often (not always) resume the download later.

In general, when you close a browser, downloading stops. At the very least, you are warned about it giving you a chance to abort the exit. Most websites do not allow downloading to resume so you may have to start from the beginning when you restart Chrome. Worse, other sites won't have the link available anymore so you will have to go back to the original download page.
