Is Gun Owners of America (GOA) a worthwhile gun rights organization?  Do they actually make a difference?

Yes, they bill themselves as the only no-compromise gun rights group, but are they effective?

Have they ever made a real difference legislatively or judicially?

As bad of shape as the NRA is in, I can point to many victories for gun rights that they made happen.  For instance, the fact that many states have state preemption laws that prevent cities and counties from enacting their own gun control law is directly due to many years of NRA efforts.  So is the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act that prevents gun manufacturers and dealers from being sued out of existence.

Before I join the GOA, I want to know they actually do something useful with my membership dues.

Law abiding citizens with guns prevent roughly 3,000,000 crimes per year.
