My sister said "modern-day Romeo and Juliet" when I was telling her about my new girlfriend. What is that supposed to mean?
I was telling her about my gf and she was being more critical than happy for me (what else can you expect from a younger sister), and that my gf and I have already both said how much we love each other and that we're the best thing that's ever happened to one another. And my sister just laughed and said "what is this, modern-day Romeo and Juliet?" in a somewhat disapproving tone.

She probably meant that you and your girlfriend said all those things too early. In Romeo and Juliet, they said they loved each other basically within a few hours of just meeting. But like the other user said, you should probably ask your sister for accurate results.

Did it occur to you to ask HER what she meant? She's your focking sister.
