I was at a gas station drunk and blew a .24.  I was arrested for a DUI.

I've never been pulled over except for aa routine check of documents at a checkpoint.

1975,  A friendly chat. We were former Auxiliary Officers.

Late 90s. Speeding on the Interstate. Statey pulled me over. Super windy. Got an oral warning. Surprising since young guys get tickets, not warnings. More surprising, I'm pretty sure the cop was flirting. When he gave me the warning, he was holding his hat and said, "I'm letting you off with a warning. I'm gonna grab Toto and run home." Then he ran back to his car and left. He looked mid- to late 20s. Good-looking guy. Didn't look gay. But a definite vibe when he handed me the warning. This eye contact thing. Kept smiling at me, big smiles full of teeth and dimples. Avoidably touched my hand handing me back my license. Then the Wizard of Oz reference. Me, not gay. Not even tuned into that. That's why I'm pretty sure. I'm so not tuned in I'm always the LAST to know when a guy is. Everyone's all, "How could you not know?" Anyway, as he ran off and then left, I sat there for a second going over it again to make sure it wasn't just in my head. It wasn't. I mean, the smile thing alone. Prior to that, got stopped enough times for speeding to know cops don't include smiles in the process, least of all generous, eye-contacty smiles that are strikingly sweet. Suddenly, I felt kind of flattered. Really flattered, actually. If I'm being honest, it made my day. I'd done the impossible-- got out of a ticket by being hot WITHOUT BEING A CHICK!!! So no ticket, no written warning even, and feeling as sexy as hell. 

It's been about 20 years.  I was given a warning.  I was pulled over for a taillight that was out.
