Will current Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta run for Illinois Governor in either 2022, 2026 or 2030?

Probably not, but you never know that far out.

Not in 2022 as one of the Qualifications to be eligible to run for Governor for Illinois, you have to live in Illinois for at least 3 years prior to the election to be eligible. So the only way if he has not officially moved out of Illinois in the years he had been gone in the few years he didn't pitch for the Cubs. But I would think it is doubtful, I can't think of any former athletes that after they retired from their sport, that have gone into a career in politics. Plus is he a Democrat or a Republican, since the 2002 election, expect for a 4 year break, Illinois has had a Democrat serving as Governor. And prior to 2002, it is hard to believe that Illinois had Republicans in a row serve as governor.
