Any set of numbers is as likely to win as any other set of numbers, so you cannot increase your odds of winning by choosing specific numbers.

There is one theoretical advantage when picking numbers. If you win the jackpot you could end up splitting the winnings with others who picked the same numbers. You can reduce that possibility.

1. Do not pick numbers that follow a pattern. For example, the numbers 3, 14, 21, 28 and 35 (multiples of 7).

2. Do not pick numbers from a fortune cookie. The same numbers are repeated on multiple fortune cookies.

3. Pick at least some numbers greater than 31. A lot of people use dates (birth days, anniversaries, etc.) when picking their numbers.

Since your odds of winning the jackpot are so low the advantage by following this advice is almost certainly insignificant.
