Bitcoin wallet ?

Can someone explain to me how Bitcoin wallet works. I paid roughly about 290ish so that 280$ could be put in my wallet but when my transaction cleared I only had 265$ in my wallet does anybody know why.

    Perhaps the fees were higher than you realized.

    Or perhaps the price of bitcoin (measured in US dollars) went down between the time your transaction was conducted and the time you checked your balance.

    Virtual currencies are highly volatile, meaning they can change in value very very quickly.

    Going from $280 to $265 is about a 5% loss, which can easily happen in a day, or even a matter of minutes in the world of virtual currency. It could just as easily go up 5% in 5 minutes.
