is it against the rules for bridesmaids to do their own makeup for weddings?

my sister in law wants a professional makeup artist to do all of our makeup. I love to do makeup and its a huge passion of mine. i didnt know she wanted someone else to do our makeup until a week before the wedding and this was after i had already spent $300 on all the products

I can't tell you what to do about your sister-in-law. For me, it would depend on whether she's paying for the makeup artist.

A word to the wise: Stop agreeing to be in weddings. It's a tremendous expense, and more than likely, you won't see much of the people you stood up for in the future.

There are no rules about this.

In the USA.   If a bride wants professional are up or hair for her bridesmaids she pays for it.

One bridesmaid at my daughter’s wedding wanted her sister to do her hair, we said fine.  We were at the hotel with the stylists and was able to have her and her sister with us.

You may have a different look about your from the other bridesmaids. You may want to check with the bride. Like if all the BM have red lipstick and you have a nude color on.
