RLC Circuit Problem?
A series RLC circuit is driven at a frequency of 450 Hz. The phase angle between the ap- plied voltage and current is determined from an oscilloscope measurement to be 45◦.
If the total resistance is known to be 35 Ω and the inductance is 0.15 H, what is the capacitance of the circuit?

ω = 2πf = 900π = 2827rad/s
Θ = arctan(X/R) = 45 but tan45 = 1 so X = R = 35
ωL - 1/ωC = 35 so (ωL -35) = 1/ωC
1/(ωL -35) = ωC
C = 1/[ω(ωL -35)] = 1/[2827(2827*0.15 -35)] = 909nF
Z = R + j(ωL - 1/ωC) = 35 + j[2827*0.15 - 1/(2827*909e-9)] = 35+j34.9 close enough
C = 910nF or 0.91µF <<<<<
