COVID aside, would you say America is a nice place to live in this day and age?

I'm not from America but have always had dreams to immigrate there. But so many people have advised me against it, citing that it's dangerous, morally corrupt and full of dumb people.

I'm confused over it. I actually think Americans are quite smart and mentally and culturally adventurous (their achievements in the entertainment industry for example). Where I live (Australia), the people here have an insular island mentality and really don't know any different. At least America has a rich, powerful history.

America's quite a nice place to live.  I'm not sure I'd choose to raise a family there, now - since it is becoming quite tough for the young ones to find jobs.

Of course, it is morally corrupt and full of dumb people, but so is pretty much every other place.  But it's not dangerous, and the corruption and dumbness are only a problem for those who make it so.

America has what I would call a short, dynamic history rather than a rich and powerful one.  And most Americans don't know anything about it.

I've had a love-hate relationship with the USA almost since birth for various reasons.
