80's hip hop  was mostly simple beats, boomboxes, rapping about the streets and giving strong anti-drug messages

90's hip hop was mostly conscious rap, lyrical, rapping about selling drugs in the hood  to make it by 

00's hip hop was about commercializing drug usage, flexing, showing off gold chains, hoes, rapping about riches 

10's hip hop was about taking xanax, popping pills, auto-tuning, mumble rapping, face tattoos, doing feminine gay dancing, singing with girly voices
