How do YOU personally cope with a separation from a partner when you still love him?

By doing drugs and getting lots of support from my friends. I’ve adopted an arguably toxic mechanism where I just ignore/suppress the entire person and situation until years down the line I actually can’t remember lots of things and I’ve then fallen out of love with the person. Forcing myself to forget basically.
