Is it homophobic for Verizon to shut down the Yahoo! Answers LGBT category?

yes. i am a gay man and i like this category a lot, and they are shutting it down. therefore its homophobic.

Actually a lot of "homophobia" will disappear with Yahoo Answers.

Yahoo Answers afforded people a degree of anonymity. So it was possible for people to post material with very few consequences. The worst that is likely to happen is deletion of your account.

But if you tried posting the same thing on Facebook (for instance) there would be real world repercussions. So if you posted a statement such as "Boob therapy can cure homosexuality" on Facebook, then a gay guy who works at your office would say he was "traumatised" by the statement and would demand that you be fired for holding such a "homophobic" view.

One less platform for republicans and evangelicals to spew their hatred of anyone they disapprove of, Yahoo Is Doing America a Great Service.

It makes me sad as a transgender woman because now I can't recruit more people into the trans lifestyle. You'd get 2 months free hormones of your choice.

No.  They're shutting everything down.  They could hardly just have this and nothing else.

Verizon isn't shutting down just the LGBT section.

They are shutting down Answers in it's entirety.

I dont know why they are pulling the plug,  its just business I guess. 

Homophobia doesn't exist! I am glad this SINFUL GAY section is being banished forever, though :) 

No, they’re shutting down the whole platform, not just the LGBT section. That isn’t homophobia, people need to stop being so pressed with tiny issues and instead focus on the many issues in the world instead involving racism, sexism, and ACTUAL homophobia.
