I'd recommend the book "Little Dogs: Training your pint-sized companion" by Deborah Wood as a good place to start. Don't ignore undesirable behaviors just because the dog is small. Set boundaries and enforce them kindly but firmly. Physical corrections should especially not be used with a small dog- it will only cause fear-based behaviors. A system of verbal correction, redirection, and praise/reward for desired behaviors should be used.
