Tips for Frequent Travelers?
What are some advice for frequent travelers?
I am starting a new job that spans across 5 states on the east coast. All of which will be by driving with my own personal car. I'm looking for little tips and tricks to make my experience better. (Certain credit cards for cashback, etc). Is there some key things I should ask my employer? Is there some service I can sign up for that will benefit me by me traveling long distances?

Download podcasts on your iPod to listen to while you drive. Get a AAA membership = it's fabulous when you need roadside assistance. Do keep careful track of your mileage and what you spend on the road- what your employer doesn't reimburse may be deductible on your taxes. Truckstops are the best places to stop- most even have showers.

Make a packing spreadsheet. Enter everything, from underwear to phone charger to ties. Enter the number you need, like 5 pairs of socks, etc. If you have trips of varying lengths, make tabs I the spread sheet and adjust quantities on the tabs. If you find you've forgotten something, add it to the spreadsheet. If you never need an item you've packed, take it off the spreadsheet.
I have spreadsheets for domestic business travel, overseas business travel, cruises, pleasure travel, etc. I"m a tad OCD about these things, but I can tell you one thing, I never forget anything.
You stated you were using your own vehicle. Assuming you itemize, you may be able to recut mileage, so find an app or something to track miles, gas, etc.
You might want to consider getting a portable wifi hot spot. They are under $100 and 24 hour blocks of time are about $9 a day. It can come in handy if your hotel has lousy internet, you just need decent cell reception. I don't often use it domestically, but I've used in on numerous occasions on cruises and travel to Europe and Asia.

Search the net for examples of Mileage Charts to keep track of every mile driven.
If you find one you like that can be downloaded and printed you're golden.
However, I prefer to make my own using Excel. This way you can print out the form or just fill it out on the computer every day to keep your record up to date.
I also recommend making 1 spread sheet for every month for better record keeping.
If your company pays your mileage and it is less than what the IRS allows you'll need these to claim unpaid mileage on your taxes as UNPAID business expenses to make up the difference.
