Are cops allowed to shoot or tase you while you're talking?

Like in the movie Ant-Man, when Officer Paxton and Officer Gale (the antagonists of the movie) followed reports of a helicopter crash and a fight between two individuals in a family's home. When Paxton and Gale arrived, they were surprised to find Scott Lang (escaped prisoner) in a strange uniform, having just defeated Yellowjacket and saved the family. While Lang tried to explain what was happening and make the confused Paxton understand the situation, Paxton, believing him to be insane, ignored him and instead pulled out his taser and shocked Lang, knocking him out and putting him into the police car to be taken back to jail.

@Bob They didn't feel he was a threat, they just thought he was not sane enough to be spoken to.

They didn't shoot him, they tased him. Did you even read the details?

you realize that is a movie, and not reality, right?

in reality, a cop can taze you whenever they determine you to be a threat to public order and safety, and when you do not follow their orders.
