Age of majority is when you are legally an adult.  Age of consent is when you can consent to sexual activity.

Although often used in a legal sense, "age of majority" (like "poverty") can be a statistical term  that varies from population to population.

Simply put, it is the marking point between the majority and minority of any given population.  The age of majority at a middle school would be very different than the age of majority at a senior-living community.

"Age of consent" is a legal term designating the age at which a person is considered a consenting adult.  It is often based on the age of majority, but not always.  In addition, as a legal term it can only be changed via legal code, not on statistical changes alone.

The age of majority is the threshold of adulthood as recognized or declared in law. It is the moment when minors cease to be considered such and assume legal control over their persons. Age of consent is the age at which a person is considered to be legally competent to consent to sexual acts

The age of majority is when the state criminal code says you're an adult - usually 18.

The age of consent is when you're too old for Matt Gaetz.
