What is the magnitude of the frictional force that acts on the vehicle on the moon?

 c4a. In tests on earth a lunar surface exploration vehicle (mass = 5.90 103 kg) achieves a forward acceleration of 0.210 m/s2. To achieve this same acceleration on the moon, the vehicle's engines must produce a drive force of 1.53 103 N. What is the magnitude of the frictional force that acts on the vehicle on the moon?

=____ N

    Newton's 2nd: net force = m*a = applied force - friction force

    5900kg * 0.210m/s² = 1530N - f

    f = 291 N

    1.53*10^3 = FF+m*a

    friction force FF = 1.53*10^3-1.24*10^3  = 290 N
