the delay is simply to give people a chance to READ the answers that others have posted to their questions. No new answers will be created.

No once it Becomes Read only there is not going to be anything else being posted until Yahoo closes for good on May 4

Nothing. There will be NO new posting. Users will have a couple of weeks to read through existing posts, if they want (and posts may still show up in internet searches) but that's it. Read-only means just that (no posting, no TD/TU, no reporting...ONLY reading).

It will be read-only for a fortnight or so, presumably so people can see answers to their question, then it will be erased.
