2011 Camry Vibrates during acceleration?

I test drove a 2011 Camry V6 yesterday. I like the car, its clean, no visible rust, and performed very well during my test drive.

The one thing I did notice is that whenever I was accelerating there was an obvious vibration. It went away once I reached the desired speed and was just maintaining a set speed.

It happened throughout the range of speeds, not just within a certain range.

I've found info online about the 2012-14 models having problems with torque converters, but no definitive answer on whether the issues affected the 2011 models. I'm also finding a lot of info that suggests it could be a bad CV axle.

The car is a good price and would fit my needs so I'm willing to buy it and spend a bit of money to fix it if I know for sure what the problem is.

I'm trying to arrange the details to take the car to a mechanic for an inspection and diagnosis before I commit to buying it.

I'm curious what the Toyota experts on this forum think. Did the 2011 model have the same torque converter problems? Is a bad CV axle sound like a possible source of this? Is there something else that I should have the mechanics look for?

Sounds like a bad axle, easy fix.  Or the car is misfiring under load, could be a very expensive fix.  Do not roll the dice.  Look for another car.  And if it is vibrating when accelerating, it did not perform very well during your test drive.

If it's not vibrating exhaust shields it's likely a bad CVT transmission. CV joints don't vibrate when bad. The either knock when accelerating in a tight circle when the outer CV joint is bad or they shimmy left to right when the inner slide joint is bad. Don't buy it unless a good mechanic checks it out.

When I had a CV joint go stiff, it made my Corolla vibrate like that  increasing from 40 mph up to 80 mph. I replaced the axle with a rebuilt one and all was well.

CV joints can easily cause that symptom as can needing plugs

It's more likely a bad engine mount or a weak cylinder. Probably why the car is for sale.
