I've only slept 4 hours per night on average for the last year. For the last 2 months it's been even less?
I am not stressed out or depressed as far as I can tell. I am not anxious. I do not take any drugs that can keep me awake. I can fall asleep fine but I always wake up between 1 and 3 AM and then I can't sleep anymore. I do not have any symptoms of thyroid issues other than insomnia. I don't have any symptoms of aneurysms or brain tumors that I can tell. What could be causing my extreme insomnia? I honestly feel like I'll die if this goes on for a few more months.

Could be depression? Try taking some sleeping pills for the meantime. Try to get in touch with a doctor as soon as possible. They'll likely know the answer to your problem.
