Does this sentence make sense:
"As he entered the building, he greeted the people he HAPPENED WITH."
Note: By 'happened with', I mean 'he came across with'. (Is 'to happen with' a more polite or milder way of expressing 'to come across with'?)

The sentence does not make sense,
"As he entered the building, he greeted the people he happened to meet" or, better,
"As he entered the building, he greeted the people he met." or
"As he entered the building, he greeted the people he came across.""With" is not required in the sentence and sounds very odd when you put it there.
