Is it possible that a liberal immigrant candidate could win in Texas as governor or senator?

I have a classmate from college who's originally an immigrant from Russia 🇷🇺, but moved to Texas when she was 6 years old, was a campaign volunteer for the campaigns of Beto O'Rourke, Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden in Texas, believes in most liberal issues (such as justice reform, pro-immigration and universal healthcare), soon to graduate 🎓 from Texas A&M, looking to do her masters degree at NYU and does have plans to run for Texas governor or senator sometime in the future.

Based on these credentials, would it be likely that she could win an election in still mostly conservative Texas?

If not, what issues do you see in a possible future campaign?

Winning in elections is all about money so it probably depends on how many wealthy donors she can sway.

Anything is possible (for example, if the Republicans nominated an exceptionally weak candidate), but otherwise, no.

Texas is turning blue.  So, yes especially if she campaigns heavily in Austin and the urban counties.
