    Yahoo Answers has not been doing well Lately a lot of Users have Left Poor Maintenance of the

    Site they have not Fixed a lot of the Problems they are Likely Losing Money on it as well so

    They feel its Best to Close it Down If there not going to Fix it they minus as well Close it

    Down

    ..imo only.....It is a PRIVATE BUSINESS who has made a decision after much deliberation I am sure.

     New laws are coming out that will hold social media sites responsible ( libel) to clean up what is posted ( racism. slander, abuse ,porn etc...FAST or face fines = $$$$$$$$$$$

    An article I read indicated they will have a way for you to archive your posts, but I have no idea how or if that will play out. 

    Back in the era when Verizon took over, Y/A had already been identified as a less profitable area to potentially be cut.   It survived being cut by decreasing  costs, i.e. less moderation, but that created a downward slide to it’s inevitable demise.   

    I strongly suspect the recent trend by social media to have more control over user content may also be a factor, the banning of user comments prior to the election a case in point.  I’ve seen many forums, media outlets, etc., take steps to limit user views so they have more control of the narrative. This move is certainly consistent with that.
